... About 15 years ago, I decided to pick up the acoustic guitar. The piano was the first instrument I learned to play. There it stood, all 88 keys laid out in a sequential order for me to follow.

But, when I was introduced to the guitar I quickly noticed how awkward the vantage point was for the guitar player compared to the vantage point of the piano player. The guitar was positioned in the front of my body; I had to blindly reach around the guitar, and place my fingers in a prescribed manner in order to create, chords, passing note, intervals, harmony, etc, etc...

This transition from piano to guitar was quite difficult... On the piano I could play complete songs and had complete mastery of the piano keyboard. ( because I could visually look down and see the notes)On the guitar I was frustrated, confused and lack any understanding of the guitar fretboard. 

I can remember this moment like it was yesterday. I was up one late night practicing on my guitar. I remember these words coming out of my mouth. One day I am going to figure out how to turn my guitar into my piano.  It took me every bit of 27 years but I finally did it... 

If you got time, let me tell you how I did it...

At first I did what the average Joe Would do. I signed up for some guitar lessons. (I only took one lesson) My guitar teacher wanted me to learn how to play sweet home Alabama, and learn the pentatonic "C" scale.  I wasn't interested... I was interested in reverse engineering the learning process on the guitar.

In my mind... After being trained by my piano coach for 3 years, I wasn't interested in becoming someone else's residual income.  So I had questions that needed to be answered.  And my guitar teacher couldn't answer them, so I only took one lesson, and I set out on a journey to self educate myself.

My line of thinking...  just go to every local book store, buy every book Hal Leonard and Mel bay has ever produced on the subject of playing the guitar. Self medicate/educate over the information. 

I'm smirking while I'm writing this...  because That did not work, these dam books were written by an evil genius or a person who was hired to confused the hell out of the people like me who bought these books.

I didn't find the information I need in these books. I wanted to know how to master

(Total Recall) every note on the neck of the guitar. (By string and fret) The suggestions of the authors inside most of these books sounded a lot like my guitar teacher just practice, practice, practice.

I didn't believe my guitar teacher, and I definitely didn't believe theses guys inside of these books. There were approximately 216 notes(including enharmonic) on the neck of a 6 string 24 fret guitar.

I was in no mood to sit down and study this massive amount of information.(that is why I never attended med-school-lol) The 88 keys on the piano were daunting enough. So, I came up with another brilliant idea! What was I thinking? I happen to be living in Memphis, Tn.  

Home of the Blues and Of course Elvis Presley.(King of Rock and Roll) So, I started stalking veteran guitar players with 10 to 30 years under their belts. 

                I Just knew they were hoarding this secret, but to my chagrin no one could help me... what I discovered was that most guitar players don't have a great understanding of their entire fret-board. They know enough to get accomplished what they need to accomplish.

Can you believe it... I came up with another brilliant idea...  I started stalking guitar teacher at local music stores.  Every teacher I encountered asked me the same crucial questions. Why do you need to master the entire Guitar fretboard first? I would explain to them my theory that the guitar must be mastered in two ways... Mentally and physically. It's hard to master a subject physically when you have mental confusion or doubt.  

Of course they all gave me a blank stare... and that teacher spin... Just practice, practice, practice... But I guarantee you at that particular moment most of their students were quietly suffering from mental confusion and, or, doubt coming off of their fret board. 

So, the answers I was seeking wasn't on You-tube, the answers wasn't in the head of guitar teachers, and it definitely wasn't in guitar books. So, I did what I always do when I can't find what I'm looking for in this society... 

I just create it! 

So, through sheer grit and determination I created The (The Total Recall). This thing is amazing! It's short of having a genie in a bottle. You will be able to recall every note on the guitar fret-board. Which also will give You "mental mastery" over tabulation, harmony, intervals, chords, chord progressions, modes, arpeggio, enharmonic, etc, etc...

The Guitar Fretboard was the culprit! 

It's not your fault if you feel frustrated, confused, or stuck...

Every music teacher, You-tube video, and every piece of music literature explicitly tells the guitar player to learn his or her guitar fretboard.  But the How-to instructions are missing!
